Reporting to Parents & Parent / Teacher Interviews

The school has a thorough reporting process that is aimed to keep parents and students advised of their progress in the school.
In Term 1 the teachers have interviews with parents who wish to inform them of any learning strengths and weakness their child may have, raise any early concerns and receive a brief overview of the year.
This is followed up in Term 2 by reports being sent home in the last week of school.
Parent teacher interviews are conducted at the start of Term 3.
In Term 4 another report is sent home at the end of the school year.

Of course teachers are always available to chat to parents about any concerns the may have or if they wish to raise any issues.

Information Communications Technology (I.C.T)

The school will go to a one to one program in 2013 for our senior 4/5/6 class, where every child will have the opportunity to lease a netbook for 3 years and at the end of this period own it outright. Students are able to take the netbooks home and use them for research and homework. This will mean that our other 15 computers will be able to be used by our junior grade.

Targeted ICT lessons are held once a week with students learning how to operate a computer effectively in the F/1/2/3 class and in the 4/5/6 class they put their skills to use in teaching others in a collaborative learning atmosphere. Students are asked to explore and take risks, sharing their knowledge and presenting their work in a formal and informal ways to the class. They give and receive feedback as well as self assessing their own work. This provides ongoing learning of the skills required in the 21st century.

Camps & Excursions

The school has a comprehensive camp program, beginning in foundation and going through to Grade 6. The camping program is shared with 3 other small schools, Tambo Upper, Bruthen and Swan Reach, from grades 3-6.

Excursions are used as an activity to support learning that occurs in the class. Incursions happen at regular times as it is often easier to get people in to the school than for the students to travel long distances to attend activities.
Once a term we travel to Toorloo Arm PS for an arts performance. In the past we have seen plays, concerts by African bands, magicians and many other performances.
